Top 100 Attractions Review

The American Museum in Britain was one of those attractions that took me totally by surprise. Being a huge fan of the Ulster American Folk Park in Omagh, Northern Ireland, I was thinking that I had seen it all. The American Museum in Britain really is one of Baths hidden gems when it comes to tourist attractions. Taking you perfectly through the history of America, the museum has an amazing collection of textiles that really did play a huge part in America in those early years of settlement. Founded in the early sixties by two very experienced antique collectors, the museum has grown from strength to strength. With so many things to see, you could either spend a few hours here or maybe even make it a full day especially if your planning on having lunch on the lawn. A true Top 100 Attraction is what you'll find here!

The American Museum takes you on a journey through the history of America, from its early settlers to the twentieth century. With its remarkable collection of folk and decorative arts, the Museum shows the diverse and complex nature of American traditions. The only museum of Americana outside the United States, it was founded to bring American history and cultures to the people of Britain and Europe. Each year a special temporary exhibition is on display in our Exhibition Gallery, in 2014 this will be KAFFE 2014: The Colourful World of Kaffe Fassett. Throughout the season there is a range of exciting events planned, including traditional American music concerts, kids' activities, and Living History events. The Museum is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, with spectacular views over the Limpley Stoke Valley and the River Avon. The grounds total some 125 acres, of which 35 are open to visitors.
