Top 100 Attractions Review
Having visited a number planetariums in my research for Top 100 Attractions I have visited sites such as Jodrell Bank in Cheshire, the Spaceguard Centre in Mid Wales to the famous Cape Canaveral in Florida. But believe it or not, the one I was so impressed by was the planetarium here in Armagh. I'm sure it would come as a huge surprise to a number of tourism experts that a small planetarium in Northern Ireland has made that much of an impression on me that not only did we vote it a Top 100 Attraction but also it ends up being the best planetarium I have ever visited. One of the many keys too a Top 100 Attraction is its staff, and the staff here are top class! The management really do operate a slick operation at the Armagh Planetarium and I promise you will not be disappointed with your visit.

Armagh PlanetariumArmagh Planetarium

Armagh Planetarium is a world-renowned astronomical educational establishment. Established in 1968 its purpose is to bring astronomy to a wider audience. The Planetarium is a multifaceted organisation dedicated to astronomy education for all levels, from nursery through to retirement age. It is the Planetarium's unique ability to adapt to changing audience needs that have enabled it to stay at the forefront of science education since its formation. Our aim is to demonstrate to our visitors the amazing objects that exist in the cosmos, but to do it in such a way that they do not see our efforts as formal teaching. We call this “Learning by Stealth”. When they are prompted to ask questions, they are engaging in the learning process. All of our school theatre shows are interactive, so that presenters and pupils take an active part in the show.
