Creevagh Heights

Carol and Harry Whelan extend you a warm céad míle fáilte (a hundred-thousand welcomes) to Creevagh Heights. This is a beautiful family-run Bed and Breakfast in the most scenic part of north County Mayo. Described by Harry as ‘a little piece of heaven', Creevagh is a small townland in Lacken, overlooking Killala and Lacken Bay. Rich in local lore and history, Lacken is a small fishing area situated on the on the Killala-Ballycastle Coast Road just 15 miles from the bustling town of Ballina.

Harry and Carol are native Dubliners who have enjoyed living in both Belgium and the United States before returning to Ireland to live in a home which has been in Carol's family for generations. An eager tour guide, Harry is renowned for his warm welcome, knowledge of local history and roaring turf fires that warm the coldest of evenings. Carol is an impeccable hostess whose cooking integrates skill and warmth with the freshest available local ingredients. For those guests staying on a half-board basis, do enquire about the availability of fresh, local seafood. The experience of enjoying lobster on a dinner table only metres and minutes from where it was sourced is not to be missed!

A property boasting both history and modern luxuries, Creevagh Heights features spectacular views of the Atlantic and is ideally situated as a base for exploring the rugged North West Coast. Amenities include beautifully appointed private and en-suite bathrooms, tea and coffee-making facilities and complimentary wireless internet. Just 10 minutes from Downpatrick Head and Céide Fields and 40 minutes drive from the stunning Belmullet Peninsula, the scenery in the area is truly breathtaking and not soon forgotten. Activities in the area include surfing, fishing (both sea and river,) swimming, hiking, walking, and horse-riding. There are also two championship links courses nearby - Enniscrone, Ballina and Carne, Belmullet.
