The Silver Mountain Experience

Where history, myth and legend collide in a fantastic day out for the whole family.Set against the dramatic Cambrian Mountains, The Silver Mountain Experience is not your usual day out. Experience guided tour A Miner’s Life, which takes visitors on a fascinating journey through the oldest part of the uniquely preserved silver-lead mine. Explore Welsh myth and legend in our theatrical experiences such as A Dragon’s Tale and the mysterious Black Chasm (not for the very young or faint-hearted!). New attraction Time Lab features an interactive show for all the family, delving deep into the freaky facts and twisted tales linked to this unique silver mine. As well as our fantastic theatrics, you won’t want to miss what else we have on offer. Discover our Mining Museum, let your imagination run wild in Woo Hoo Woods, go gem panning, den building, dig for fossils and much more. So what are you waiting for? Come and explore!

Note: Sturdy footwear advised. Dogs on leads welcome at surface attractions

With a Gift and Coffee shop and with beautiful hillside views, Silver Mountain is well worth the visit.  Open Easter-Christmas (check website for opening times), with a wide range of special events throughout the year, including Wales’ scariest Halloween event Terror Mountain.

Author's Review

The Silver Mountain Experience is only several miles away from a couple of our other Top 100 Attractions, Devils Bridge & Falls and The Vale of Rheidol Railway, which in my opinion could all be done on the same day. This award winning attraction really does have it all, as well as being ‘Value for Money' and the trip underground was both informative and educational, and the tour guide really did know his stuff which always makes a difference. It's now after my visit very apparent why people are just itching to film at Silver Mountain as did the BBC's ‘Countryfile' team a few years ago. With loads to see and explore there's a lot to occupy yourselves with, and what makes it extra special is that apart from the underground tour you are pretty much left to your own devices. Which as you will see the kids love? As if that wasn't enough the surrounding area at Llywernog is breathtakingly beautiful so once your done at the mine go and explore the surrounding area.
