Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet
Attraction in South Yorkshire
We have all seen “Made in Sheffield” on a piece of cutlery, but have you seen the Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet? The Sheffield Industrial Museums Trust makes every effort to preserve ancient memory. This authentically restored industrial hamlet showcases the ancient origins of what we sometimes take for granted in modern-day life. At the hamlet you not only see what you have only read about in the classics, but also various collections, from beautiful Sheffield silver to machinery and tools, all hand-crafted, of course. Educational programmes specifically provide for different age groups separately, young children to adults; sure to entertain, teach, inform and enlighten. You are invited to get involved as volunteer with any of the three sites, the Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet, the Shepherd Wheel or the Kelham Island Museum. To fulfil that basic human curiosity ‘where did it come from?’, visit the hugely interesting Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet.
