The museum tells the tale of how Cardiff was transformed from a small market town in the 1300s, to one of the world’s biggest ports in the 1900s, to the cool, cosmopolitan capital we know today. With activities for all ages, it is housed in one of Cardiff’s most historic buildings – the Old Library – in the heart of the city centre, and is free entry. The Cardiff Story Museum is a great starting point for any visit to Cardiff, and gives an introduction to the city’s history through engaging, interactive displays. It uses the stories of the people who have lived and worked in the city over past centuries to bring history to life. The Cardiff Story Museum is most definitely a must on any visit to Cardiff! What I liked so much about the museum is the fact you can stay as little or as long as you like, but no matter how long you stay, there is literally something to interest everyone here. From stories about Cardiff, to the struggles of the coal faces, it's all here in what I would call one of Cardiffs most informative museums and if that's not appealing enough, you get to visit this museum for free! I found the staff to be knowledgeable, courteous and anyone I asked questions of, they all seemed to go out of their way to not only give me an informative answer, but they were very thorough in their explanations. Finally, the museum is easy to find, well laid out and Cardiff is more the better for having this voice to tells its rich historic story.
