As well as operating the ‘World’s most interactive prison tour’ the Dana has been host to a number of events over the past year, including, outdoor cinemas, laser combat, prison escape events, prison experience days, zombie events, a history day, overnight sleepovers, school and educational days, corporate training, hen/stag and birthday parties and a paintball event. The prison has been used by production companies and had a number of paranormal investigations carried out (including filming by Most Haunted). The extension will see a number of changes happening at the Dana over the next couple of months. This will include opening a small refreshments area ‘The Officers Mess’ in C Wing. Visitors will be able to enjoy food and drink served to them in their cells or on the landings of our notorious haunted wing which housed female prisoners until 1923. Our World recognised tours will be continuing as will the self-guided tours and Dana in the Dark.

As my role as a travel journalist, I have been privileged enough to take my place on a number of tours in prisons all across the UK & Ireland. Some of these tours I've really enjoyed and some I've felt needed a huge amount of work to improve on their visitor experience.
