Doonside
Doonside is a spacious self catering holiday home, set on the banks of the River Doon in the picturesque Doonfoot area of Ayr, south west Scotland. With the Ayrshire coastline on its doorstep, three golf courses within easy reach and the attractions of Burns Country to explore nearby, Doonside is the ideal base for a memorable Ayrshire holiday. Many of the necessities you will use during your stay are provided by us free of charge, including washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, toilet paper, kitchen roll, salt, pepper, tea and coffee. If you are staying for 7 nights or longer, we also provide a complimentary welcome pack, filled with some delicious locally produced treats! Pets are welcome at Doonside.
Accommodation
Doonside has five spacious bedrooms decorated in a contemporary style. On the ground floor, there are two twin bedrooms, and one double bedroom with an en suite bathroom. Two other ground floor bathrooms (one with a bath, one with a shower) means that there is a bathroom for each bedroom.
Bedrooms
The first floor has one double bedroom with a double bed and a sofa bed, and one large bedroom with a double bed and two twin beds. There is a separate bathroom with a shower on this floor and an en suite bathroom with shower attached to the larger bedroom. Again, this means a bathroom can be allocated to each bedroom.
Living Rooms
The living room is large and bright, with a wonderful view of the extensive gardens and the River Doon. The comfortable leather sofas are ideal for relaxing on to enjoy the wide screen television with integrated Freeview and DVD player. The patio doors of the living room open out onto a spacious decking area, which is perfect for barbecues, evening drinks or al fresco breakfasts.
The first floor has a sitting room with a two-seater sofa, television and DVD player and a supply of toys, books and games to keep the children amused!
Kitchen
The kitchen is fully equipped with all modern appliances, including dishwasher, fridge/freezer, Rangemaster gas hob, electric oven, toaster, kettle, coffee maker and microwave. The kitchen is stocked with a wide range of cooking and baking equipment, utensils, crockery, glassware and cutlery. The large dining table seats 12 and the breakfast bar seats two. Beside the kitchen is a utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board.
Garden
The garden at Doonside never fails to amaze visitors to the house. It has a 100-metre border with the River Doon, beginning at the side of the house and running down to the end of the garden. The lawn area is around 60 metres long by 30 metres wide and is perfect for summer parties and relaxing on any welcome sunny days. We have recently created a large safe play area for children in the garden by building a fence (complete with a child-proof gate leading to the rest of the garden) around a 15 metre by 20 metre section at the side of the house. Adults sitting on the decking area can watch their children play. Naturally the children are able to run loose in the rest of the garden, but they should not be left unattended at any time, due to the proximity of the river.
The garden has a gas barbecue and a range of garden furniture, including a large wooden table with six chairs.
