Dyfi Distillery

Dyfi Distillery produces artisan gins crafted with wild Welsh botanicals foraged in the Dyfi Biosphere. Based at Corris Craft Centre, near Machynlleth and this locally produced gin has been recognised in the Great British Food Awards 2017 for the best gin produced in the UK. The prestigious award is for its Pollination Gin, which the judges described as “seriously beautiful”. Dyfi Distillery is one of nine studios at the Corris Craft Centre, run by brothers Pete and Danny Cameron. They established the first commercial gin distillery in Mid Wales in 2016. Pete has lived, worked and foraged in the Dyfi Valley for 35 years, while Danny is a long standing drinks industry professional and international-standard judge. While they are a tiny distillery, they welcome curious and enthusiastic gin-hunters. They don’t offer formal tours or events, but rather welcome all visitors equally, and if you’d like to chat to the family, taste what they do, or just browse around the information boards and see through the glass screen between our cellar door shop and the distillery, they would love to see you. As the cellar door and shop are not production areas, accompanied children and dogs are welcome too.

Author's Review

Gin is fast becoming one of the UK’s most popular drinks and here at Dyfi Distillery and also with being a family run business, it was always in the stars that brothers Pete and Danny would team up to create this award winning distillery. On the day I visited the them on that cold January morning, I was fortunate to see Pete at work in his white coat, it was almost like watching watch a scientist at work in his lab, in fact to be honest, that’s exactly what it is. There are no tours around this distillery, but most days you will be lucky enough to witness the guys at work and with so much hard work that goes into distilling their award winning Gins, there is always something going on in there. With a well stocked shop and very clued up staff, there is always someone on hand to ask any questions you may have, no matter how big or small.
