Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway

Attractions

Situated just outside Skipton in North Yorkshire the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway runs 4 miles between the award winning station at Bolton Abbey and the Victorian Embsay station. Steam trains run every Sunday throughout the year, then Tuesday Saturdays and Sundays from April till the ends of October and daily in the Summer Holidays. Almost all trains are hauled by wonderfully restored steam locomotives and the

carriages all date from the steam train era some over 100 and there is usually a 1st class saloon on the train as well. Trains don't just run during the day in the summer, on Saturday evening's extra trains such as Fish & Chip or Strawberry Specials operate. Both main Stations have Gift Shops and there is a large Tea Room at Bolton Abbey Station, there is ample free coach and car parking at both Bolton Abbey and Embsay Stations.

Review

The United Kingdom has many Steam Railways still in operation, and all are just as spectacular as the other. But one that really does stand out and leave you with some long lasting memories, is the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway. I had visited here on many occasions prior to my recent visit in the summer of 2012. I had to visit again because I owe it to you to ensure that this attraction is still delivering the great service you deserve. I was not disappointed! The station ticket master was the same and dressed just like he would have been 100 years ago! That's why this railway is so special, they transport you back a century and make you believe that you could be standing on that platform in 1912 not 2012. Even the station dog was there and has been there for years! Not a hundred years though! Now that would have been special!
