The dramatic life story of Irish/Greek writer Patrick Lafcadio Hearn, is brought into blooming, beautiful life at the Lafcadio Hearn Japanese Garden; the multifaceted, scenic jewel in Ireland's many studded crown. Set within the sparkling seaside town of Tramore, County Waterford in Ireland, the 10,000 sqm memorial garden, is a cultural kaleidoscope of colours and architecture that brings the ornate surroundings, and sublime tranquility of Japan, to Ireland. Visitors are taken on a journey through exquisite gardens and landscapes, including Victorian, Greek, Irish and Japan Tea Gardens, Stream Garden, waterfalls, Japanese Folklore and Fairytales . Following a visit by Hearn’s great-grandson in 2012, the seed of an idea has been transformed into a profusion of natural beauty, in recognition for the unique and fascinating work of writer, Patrick Lafcadio Hearn.
