Perfect for families, the Lakeland Wildlife Oasis is an all weather attraction combining lush tropical halls with outdoor animal enclosures. There’s both indoor and outdoor seating and plenty for children to enjoy, whatever the weather. Explore our evolutionary journey spanning 300,000,000 years. Start by examining fossils then follow the ant trail. Discover our free flying birds, butterflies and bats and inspect our furry fossas. Share the meerkat experience and witness our breathtaking snow leopards. The Oasis also has a climbing frame and safe outdoor area, perfect for your little ones to let off steam. The Wild Café is open every day for homemade meals and light refreshments and is free of charge – no zoo entry required.

The Lakeland Wildlife Oasis is a small attraction with a BIG heart! I have to admit, that when I wrote my first edition of this book, this attraction really wasn’t on my radar, that’s how much of a hidden gem it is! But this time round, it didn’t evade my eagle eye! (Excuse the Pun) With Snow Leopards and the Meerkats stealing the show most of the time, it has to be said that the tropical hall really did steal my attention, especially the colony of leaf cutter ants which stole my attention for almost half and hour! You can spend as little or as long as you like here, but I would honestly allow a really good couple of hours to make sure you’ve seen everything and with a great little cafe, you could probably also add an hour on top of that to throw lunch into the equation.
