Leighton Hall & Gardens

Attractions

Leighton Hall in Lancashire is the lived-in historic home of the Gillow furniture making family. Visitors enjoy entertaining house tours, beautiful gardens and parkland, woodland walks, breath-taking bird of prey displays (weather permitting) and delicious afternoon teas. Leighton’s tours are informal, there are no roped off areas and guests are invited to sit on the chairs, relax and get involved! Children can let off steam in the caterpillar maze, woodland walk and play area, and follow the tree face trail or enjoy brass rubbings. In August all younger visitors are invited to take part in a free teddy bear treasure hunt. Leighton Hall nestles in a bowl of beautiful parkland against a backdrop of the Lake District hills. Just 10 mins drive from J35, M6.Open: May to Sept, Tue-Thurs (also Bank Hol Sun & Mon and Sundays in Aug) 14.00-17.00 for family visitors. Pre booked groups are welcome all year round. See website for details of special events,

Review

Anybody that appreciates Fine Arts, Historic Homes, and the beautiful Lancashire countryside, will truly benefit from a visit to Leighton Hall. Not only did I feel that Leighton offers tremendous value for money, but the visitor experience that is to be gained from your visit, really makes this a Top 100 Attraction. With birds of prey demonstrations happening daily (weather permitting), beautiful Victorian gardens, and grand afternoon teas, you can't help but be impressed with your time here. I found the tour to be really interesting, and also one that included some humour. Sometimes tours around historic homes are great just once, but I would definitely enjoy taking this tour again. Another thing I liked about this attraction, was that even though the main tours around Leighton Hall happen between May and September, visitors in groups of 25 or more can pre-book a tour all around year round.
