This luxurious hotel started life as a townhouse, belonging to a Victorian gentleman. It is set in a quiet street, within walking distance of the York city centre and the ancient Roman Walls. Marmadukes is a 4 star AA rated establishment with a wide range of beautifully decorated bedrooms and suites filled with antique furniture and all the mod-cons, so that whether you are planning a business visit for one or a family stay with the dog, you will find yourself catered for in the best possible manner. While this is an upmarket and indulgent venue, it also retains the basis of proper Yorkshire hospitality which is so key to the feel of the area. Breakfasts are fabulous and there are eateries nearby for other meals. Parking is tricky in York, but is available at this hotel on a paid basis. A fantastic base from which to explore the attractions that Yorkshire has to offer.
