National Coal Mining Museum for England
Review
Exciting, educational, and fun, it is such a great day out for all! So what are you waiting for? Get ready for an experience of a lifetime. Grab your hard hat and battery lamp, then step into the ‘cage’ to descend 140 metres underground. Want to know what used to happen here? And have a glimpse at what life looked like for the hard working minors who used to spend their days here? You can visit six galleries and buildings, and when you join the ‘meet a miner’ tour, all the underground secrets will be revealed. You can also embark on the natural trail path. With a stream, a cascade, ponds, and many more surprises along the way, the atmosphere is magical. For the little ones, there is a really fun Adventure playground. And if you fancy a snack. You can head to the nearby cafe, or join other visitors in the picnic area. They are even opening a pony centre.
