The National Sports Centre accommodates two large sports halls suitable for various sporting needs. There are six recently refurbished glass back squash courts and the Islands only indoor bowls hall. The Fitness Zone consists of a gym and spa. The gym boasts a selection of cardiovascular machines, weighted machines and a free weight area, providing you with equipment to suit all of your health and fitness goals. The spa, adjacent to the gym, holds two sauna cabins and a steam room as well as a whirlpool jacuzzi.

There are two swimming pools at the NSC - the training pool and the leisure pool. Our training pool is an 8 lane, 25m pool with a floating beam down the middle. The leisure pool is split into two smaller pool. The beach pool is shallow, suitable for young children plus during fun sessions there is a bubble ring and mushroom spray for your entertainment. The other half is known as the whirl pool due to its jets causing a whirl pool motion. There are also bubble jets and spray showers. Plus, in the middle of the two pools is a bubble jacuzzi.

The NSC Cafe is based in the main atrium provides a place of relaxation, where you can sit comfortably and enjoy a range of hot and cold drinks and snacks.

Review

The NSC is a credit to the Isle of Man government. Islanders on the Isle of Man take sport very seriously and have managed to produce some very famous sporting personalities. So the building of the National Sports Centre came as no surprise to me. But what was a huge surprise, was how big the venue was, and how much there is to do here. The leisure pool has so much to offer but due to its popularity they have to operate 1 ½ hour sessions. Many of us would never get the chance to swim in a competition pool but here at the NSC that's exactly what you can do. There is so much to do here, I'm not sure you'll be able to do everything that is on offer, but for those that love sport, there are so many reasons to return.
