Picton Castle provides the perfect setting for a fairy tale wedding day with its fine entrance gates and long carriage drive sweeping up to the Castle forecourt.Situated close to the Cleddau Estuary, known locally as the ‘hidden waterway', Picton Castle comprises 40 acres of some of the most beautiful woodland gardens and grounds in West Wales.Stroll beneath some of the largest and oldest trees in West Wales and discover woodland walks, ferns, a maze and abundant feasts of wild flowers that blend with unusual woodland shrubs from allcorners of the world. Please note that castle tours may berestricted when wedding ceremonies take place in the Great Hall; please phone 01437 751369 to confirm tour times. New is our Secret Owl Garden – Wales’ largest collection of owls in the woodlands at Picton – it is a centre for education & study as well as supporting a breeding programme for those owls that are in danger of extinction in their native habitats.

Review

Picton Castle really is one of Wales's hidden gems. Despite being one of Wales's national treasures it still remains independently run which in today's economical climate is probably just as challenging as many other challenges that have faced the Castle in the past 700 years. What made me fall in love with Picton so much, was that the castle is steeped in history from the Norman invasion right down to the Cromwellian civil war, this castle has seen it all! Yet here it is, still standing as majestic and charming as it did when it was first built. Unlike many other properties in Wales, Picton offers tours seven days a week and are thoroughly enjoyable. If its just the gardens that your interested in you won't be disappointed! The gardens here at Picton are of a very high standard and in my opinion, add to the value of your ticket.
