Eating OutAccommodation

At the heart of the idyllic town of Lyme Regis, 'the Pearl of Dorset', is The Royal Lion Hotel, a stunning haven located in the middle of the High Street, with its own private car park.

Lyme Regis is a picturesque town on the West Dorset border, part of the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage site. Steeped in history, it is renowned for its fascinating past, mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, the unique fossils found in the cliffs and beaches, and for being the central location of the novel and the 1981 film, 'The French Lieutenant's Woman'.

Situated less than 100 metres from the sea, The Royal Lion Hotel is a perfect base from which to explore the locale.

Built in 1601 as a coaching inn, the Hotel has been extensively refurbished, yet still retains much of its history and unique charm. Oak beams, wood panelling and open fires help to create a warm, welcoming and comfortable atmosphere, with new additions of its own swimming pool and other facilities. Wi-Fi, although not available in the bedrooms, is available to guests in several areas of the hotel.

Privately owned and managed, The Royal Lion Hotel has gained an enviable reputation for its friendly service, world class food and wine and leisure offerings.

The Royal Lion Hotel prides itself on good quality bedrooms to suit your needs:

No meal would be complete without an excellent selection of wines to accompany a fine meal. You will be in the experienced hands of our Restaurant Manager and team of staff who will be more than happy to recommend that perfect wine to accompany your meal.

The Oak Room Restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner to both residents and non-residents alike.

Dining - The Inn

The Inn offers a traditional pub atmosphere with open log fires to warm you during those chilly winter days.

A great place to meet friends for morning coffee and an informal lunch or a chilled glass of wine, The Inn also offers a variety of local ales to tempt the beer connoisseur before dinner.

The Inn also has a full pub menu and daily changing special board, and is open to residents and non-residents alike. On Sundays, we are proud to offer a traditional Sunday roast, along with an alternative selection of dishes associated with this great British institution.

A hidden gem in Lyme Regis, the Royal Lion Hotel boasts a 45ft heated Swimming Pool, sauna and jacuzzi for you to enjoy during your stay with us; the perfect pre-dinner refreshment after a leisurely stroll or fossil hunt on the Jurassic Coast.

We also have a Games Room for our residents, offering a full sized snooker table and, for the more energetic, we have table tennis.

For those on business, or those who want to keep up-to-date with their e-mails or the latest goings-on, the Royal Lion is also equipped with free wireless Wi-Fi Internet for all of our residents.
