Scattery Island Tours offers a daily tourist ferry service to Scattery
Island, departing from Kilrush Marina (located just off Kilrush in Co.
Clare). Recently voted one of the seven wonders of Ireland, Scattery Island is a goldmine of heritage sites;
it contains the remains of several ancient churches, the Cathedral, as well as a
Napoleonic War Artillery Battery and working
lighthouse. Visitors can explore these sites
while doing the guided walking tour and
taking in the magnificent scenery, while
learning about the history of this serene
Island. The tour operators are committed to the Island’s
conservation, and only use compostable and
eco-friendly take-away packaging – which is
amazing! The ferry to Scattery Island departs from Kilrush
Marina and on arrival you'll be swept off on an exceptional
journey around the array of monastic sites through to
the other end of the Island where the lighthouse and Artillery Battery is located. There is
an exhibition at the visitor centre where the tour finishes, as well as
picnic tables for those keen on relaxing and having an island picnic by the shoreline.
