This awesome pub dates back to 900A.D, and you can even view an exposed wall consisting of the ancient wattle and daub; the rest of the original 9th Century walls, along with coins, are now on display at the Dublin History Museum. The town of Athlone is built on the banks of the mighty River Shannon, and the brightly painted buildings shine out in a rainbow of eye-catching colours.
