Railway operates mainly steam-hauled passenger trains between Bridgnorth, Bewdley and Kidderminster, a journey of about 16 miles, along the beautiful Severn Valley. There is no better way to see the beauty of the River Severn than from one of these steam-hauled trains.Trains operate most weekends and daily from May to September. The Railway also operates during all local school holidays throughout the year. The SVR website gives details of operating dates and the timetable in operation. The Engine House, the Visitor Centre at Highley is well worth a visit. It houses the SVRs reserve collection of steam locomotives in an exhibition setting. There is also a very attractive buffet/restaurant with superb views across the railway and the Severn Valley. There is also a gift-shop.

Since 1862 this famous railway has been winding itself along the River Severn. For over a hundred years, until 1963, this railway was a vital part of the midlands infrastructure, lest we forget the pivotal part it played in the second world war. That may be the reason why it has now become one of the most popular heritage railways in this country. The railway is now operated by the Severn Valley Railway Company and spans two counties, it runs from Kidderminster in Worcestershire to Bridgnorth in Shropshire. The railway hosts a huge number of special events during the year and are all run very well. The station and train staff wear their uniforms with pride and take their rolls very seriously. Every single one of the staff and volunteers that I came into contact with on the day of my visit were totally professional and couldn't help enough, what more can you ask for!
