Smeale Farm Cottage (sleeps 5)
Thie y Ribbeyder (sleeps 4)
Stay in one of our lovely farm holiday cottages and enjoy panoramic views, peaceful surroundings and all that Smeale Farm and the Isle of Man have to offer.
We, the Martin family, offer you a choice of accommodation in two cottages and/or a farm tour.

The Isle of Man is known for its scenery, walking, star gazing, culture and rich heritage and has a fast growing reputation for wonderful local produce. We pride ourselves on our locally-based welcome packs in Smeale Farm cottages.

Find Smeale Farm two miles from Andreas in the heart of the northern plain, bordering the Ayres National Nature Reserve on our northern boundary and with the Irish Sea and Scotland beyond. We make hay while the sun shines, care for about 450 sheep and grow cereals on our 350 acre farm. About 8 acres of the farm have been set aside for wildlife conservation, giving you an even better chance of seeing nature in action.

Both cottages - Smeale Farm Cottage and Thie y Ribbeyder - are centrally placed on the farm yet located away from the farmyard and therefore safer for children.

So step out of the hectic bustle of modern life and recharge your batteries in this special part of our beautiful Island. Wake up to the sight of sheep and lambs in the fields, the ever changing colours and patterns in the corn fields and maybe a hen harrier hunting the hedges.

We have tried to provide all the facilities that we personally would hope to find on holiday and in properties that enjoy wonderful locations. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you require any further information and/or would like to make a booking. We can email you a booking form together with conditions of hire or, if you prefer, we can post you a brochure including price list, conditions of hire and booking form.

Thie y Ribbeyder Details

This detached farm cottage was originally built in the early 1900s, but had been unoccupied since about 1952.The last permanent residents in the cottage were Scottish rabbit trappers brought to the Island by local farmers to control vast numbers of rabbits in the 1950s and since that time it has always been known to us as “The Trapper’s House” or “Thie y Ribbeyder” in Manx. The cottage was completely renovated and extended in 2006 to a very high standard (Gold Award in 2017 for the eighth year running) and, through the use of wider than standard doors and level access via the front and patio doors, is designed to be accessible to everybody including those with wheelchairs. Registered assistance dogs are accepted accompanied by the appropriate certification.Leading to the back door is a small utility room with washing machine and tumble drier, a second toilet with wash basin and heated towel rail is also accessed from here. The dining area opens out through patio doors to the bricked patio with table and chairs.
