Templand Cottages are near the River Nith with spectacular views down the Nith Valley and only half a mile from the village of Thornhill, with shops, hotels and restaurants.
The self-catering cottages have been tastefully converted from the original 18th century sandstone farm buildings of Templand where the great Scottish historian Thomas Carlyle married Jane Welsh in 1826. Carlyle described the view from Templand's garden as 'The finest in Scotland'.
The cottages are situated around a lovely landscaped courtyard, with surrounding gardens and an adjacent wood. Located in beautiful unspoilt countryside, It is an ideal place to walk, cycle, and golf with superb salmon/trout fishing nearby. Explore historic Galloway and visit several places closely associated with Scotland's National Bard, Robert Burns. The stunning Solway coast is within easy reach.
You can enjoy our heated indoor pool & sauna housed inside a cosy log cabin or choose to relax on your cottage patio(with BBQ) and observe the abundant wildlife. Don't forget to bring your binoculars ! We offer a games room with pool table and outdoor table tennis.
