The idea of an alternative birthday experience for young children came out of a need to look for a unique experience for our own kids. Soft play areas, swimming pool trips, outings to the cinema have their place but we firmly believe that the excitement of sleeping under canvas, lighting and singing around a campfire, cooking bacon, eggs and baked beans over an open fire and quality time spent playing boardgames, storytelling with mum, dad or even granddad and best friends all create lasting memories. On the other hand, we wanted to be able to provide accommodation designed for couples or an adult retreat, where 2-6 adults can sleep in comfort. Whether a romantic getaway is needed or time to chill out with good friends, all can be accommodated. With this in mind we started to source our tepee and gypsy caravan and as the project grew in popularity we have eventually built up 2 luxurious yurts, a geodesic dome and a log cabin.

Review

It is very rare that we would have an accommodation provider as one of our Top 100 Attractions. In fact it has only actually happened once, in our Wales book. Tepee Valley blew me away that much I totally changed my mind about where we would feature it within our new Top 100 Attractions in Ireland book. Alternative types of accommodation has been springing up all over Ireland within the past couple of years both in the north and in the south, I have witnessed nearly all of these during my travels around Ireland but the Tepee Valley Campsite really did make my senses stand up too attention. Camping in Ireland will never be the same again for those people who have already been fortunate enough to visit Tepee Valley. Whether it's the Log Cabin, the Huge Yurt or the Gypsy Caravan you will be totally spoilt for choice.
