Not only did we choose the Dumbuck House Hotel for the book, but the author himself stayed here for a couple of nights during his stay in the Loch Lomond region and could not have been better looked after. The rooms are very comfortable, and for those of you who really want to treat yourselves, there are a couple of suites right at the top of the building. The food in the restaurant is very good. The staff is so accommodating that when the author chose to eat in his room on the second night, the waiter brought the meal to his room for him. Now that’s service for you! We can say with hand on heart that you will absolutely love your stay here and it is very reasonably priced as well. Built in 1798, the hotel is only 1.3 miles from Dumbarton Castle.
