The Griffin Inn
Review
The Griffin Inn has appeared in two previous editions of the Top 100 Attractions in Wales book. Being closed for a small number of years, this phoenix truly has risen from the ashes. Take the rooms here for instance. Comfortable, cosy and with loads of olde world charm, you’ll have a wonderful stay and not one that will break the bank either. So if your looking for a great base with which to explore Mid Wales and the Brecon Beacons region, look no further. Brecon over the years has got more expensive and there are not many places we would recommend as highly as we do the Griffin Inn and with an affordable menu on offer, you can have the full package here. The pub itself, is steeped in history and if those walls could talk, they’d have a tale or two to tell. So, what are you waiting for?
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Everyone likes to know the provenance of where their food comes from and with Percy, the owner of the Griffin having a farming background, no one understands this more than he does. Having revived this age old inn back to its former glory, Percy Haynes and his team have collated the perfect menu and with mouth watering specials on the board, you’ll be hard pushed to find something that you wouldn’t eat. I remember this pub from many years ago and even though the Griffin itself was always famous for its food, the pub and its food has been lifted to another culinary level. My only slight criticism is, that’s its way too reasonably priced. Having read all that, all that is left is for you to give it a try, you can then see for yourself why this Mid Wales & Brecon chapter wouldn’t of been complete without it.
