The Queens Head

Eating OutAccommodation

The Queen's Head is a most remarkable country pub in terms of good food, wine, beer, welcome and character.

Priceless chefs who have a passion for local produce, excellent staff, effortless charm and a warm welcome. The bar, with its relaxed atmosphere and roaring log fire, is a lovely pre-dinner drink venue.

The original styling of The Queens Head provides the perfect ambience for lunch or dinner. Situated on Cycle Route 5.

The idyllic country village of Glanwydden is just a 5 minute car journey to the Victorian seaside town of Llandudno and the A55. Perfect for long country walks, cycling, or a day on the beach, it's a great location close to all amenities.

The Queen's Head offers a warm welcome to pre theatre dinner guests with Venue Cymru just a 5 minute drive away or a welcoming respite after a long day's shopping.

Review

My dinner date for the evening and I went to the Queens Head near Llandudno, to see exactly if all we had heard of this much talked about restaurant was true? I have to say hand on heart, it truly was, then some! When we arrived, there was no hanging around! We were promptly and politely shown to our seat. By the time we had arrived most people had ordered their food and there was a great homely buzz about the place. To start with; Eleri had the homemade chicken liver pate, whereas I couldn't resist the Welsh deep fried brie. The food was briskly brought to our tables and we made haste and tucked in to what was about to be an hour and a half of culinary joy! Next came my dinner dates main course, Chargrilled Marinated Chicken Breast with Moroccan cous cous & coriander crème freche, & fresh asparagus, I give you all the details, just in case you at home would like to recreate this masterpiece. I myself had a beautifully seared fillet of sea bass, sautéed prawns along with an attaché of almonds & roasted fennel, fresh spinach and new potatoes, absolutely divine! Just when you think there would be no room for anything else along comes the waitress with the pudding menu, I tried my best to resist and failed miserably! Eleri finished off at speed a warm chocolate pot, whereas I went for a traditional but tasty Pavlova. It has to be said that, although financially this is not the type of restaurant you would be going to every weekend; this most certainly is the type of restaurant you will be visiting very frequently throughout the year. I found, that the tasty food alongside excellent service makes this a value for money establishment, one that I cannot wait to go back to! The Queens Head & Storehouse Cottage gets huge thumbs up from us.
