The Royal Oak

Eating OutAccommodation

The Royal Oak is a 16th Century free house with restaurant and offering charming bed & breakfast accommodation.

A favourite with ramblers making use of all the lovely scenic hill walks in the area, The Royal Oak offers a friendly welcome.

Situated at the centre of the picturesque thatched village of Wootton Rivers. Wootton Rivers is located on the famous Kennet and Avon canal, near the historical market town of Marlborough.

Rosa and John have been extending a warm welcome at The Royal Oak since 1976.

Although The Royal Oak is a favourite with tourists visiting Wiltshire, it is still very much a local's pub and sports a games room with pub favourites pool and darts, Board games can also be found at the bar.

The Royal Oak was proud to be registered as a venue to conduct civil weddings in 1997 and have seen many people united into wedlock.

The Royal Oak dates back to the 16th century when it was a coaching inn, since then the pub has been used as a farriers yard and the village bakery. The interior of the building reflects its heritage with charm, sporting low, oak beamed ceilings and wide open log fires that are kept alight during the winter months.

Available for private functions is The Royal Oak's restaurant, which can seat up to sixty with comfort. There is also a marquee site for up to 300 people for larger parties, The Royal Oak is more than happy to cater for outside functions too.

At The Royal Oak we specialise in providing the broadest possible choice of food and drink. All of our food is freshly prepared and cooked on the premises. As far as possible our ingredients are from local producers.

Apart from our a la carte menu we also offer bar snacks and have a wide range of 'specials' that are changed daily. We cater creatively for vegetarians and have a choice of children's meals.

The selection of Liqueurs, Cognacs and Armagnacs kept at Royal Oak is exceptional and our cellars are home to a wide range of real ales both brewed locally and nationally. A guest beer is available on tap too.

Our Kitchens are open daily serving lunch from 12.00 - 2.30 and opening again for dinner at 6.30 with last orders taken at 9.30.

Bed and Breakfast accommodation at the Royal Oak is situated in a purpose built annexe in the garden of the main building with its own private car park. It has six double rooms all of which have colour televisions, four being en suite.

There is a kitchen to provide tea and coffee and a residents lounge with views across the garden and the adjacent fields. It's within easy reach of Swindon for business guests and any number of attractions for tourists.
