This family run hotel in the heart of Wicklow, is the pinnacle of what our sleep tight sections are about. This hotel’s one of Ireland’s oldest hotels and the owners are very conscious about that. So much so, that they have invested a lot of money into improving the bedrooms, facilities and I must have said ‘amazing’ a number of times as I was being shown around. The hotel itself is situated perfectly and is within driving distance of all Wicklow's main attractions, one being the amazing ‘Beyond the Trees Avondale’ which is one of my personal favourites. So, whether you’re on a family holiday, romantic getaway or a golfing or fishing break, this hotel has all you’ll need and more. I think it’s also worth mentioning the point that I have also featured this Hotel in the restaurant section for Co. Wicklow, such is how good their food is.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

The Woodenbridge Hotel has two main food offerings, firstly, there is the Goldmines Bistro, here you’ll be able to dress up if you want to, or just have a relaxing meal in wonderful surroundings. The food in this bistro is very reasonably priced and all locally sourced where possible and I think given the climate, offers amazing value for money. Then there is the Smokehouse offering, which you can either eat indoor, or outdoors, whatever your preference is. The food in here is no lesser quality than what is offered in the bistro, it’s just a smart, simplified menu that screams quality with every dish. The chefs across both eateries really of the highest ilk and having spent some time with the hotels owner, Gerard O’Brien, who is the latest generation to run this hotel, I can tell he is very particular about what he looks for in his staff.
