Thompson’s Fish and Chips Restaurant is just a few short miles out of York on the Scarborough road. The owner, John Thompson, is just as famous as his restaurant, and when we asked why his restaurant is so very popular, his answer was simply: “I only use the best”.The restaurant is light, spotless and crisply decorated. The menu is just as clean-cut, and while it obviously makes fish its hero, there is something on there for every palette. Mouth-watering offerings leap out at you, such as Rope Grown Scottish Mussels and Fresh Whitby Crab Salad. Meat eaters aren’t left out of the picture; with a delectable rib eye steak, burgers and ribs on offer here, too. Vegetarians also have a variety to choose from. There is also a seniors menu and one for children. Thompson’s has become the Mecca of fish and chip restaurants with thousands of tourists visiting the coast making their pilgrimage to this very special spot.
